DEPARTMENT OF UNDER
DEVELOPED AREAS PARTICULARLY FOR TUENSANG AND MON DISTRICTS
The State Government has created a new Department for Development of
Underdeveloped Areas particularly Tuensang & Mon District (DUDA) vide Notification No. AR-6/4/78
dated 23.06.2003 with following functions and duties:
1.
Supervision of implementation of
job reservation quota for Tuensang and Mon District in various Government Services in
Nagaland.
2.
Supervision, Monitoring and
Evaluation of Developmental activities undertaken by a various Departments of the
Government of Nagaland and other agencies including special schemes being implemented
exclusively in Tuensang and Mon District.
3.
Function as Public Grievances Cell for Tuensang and Mon Districts.
4.
Suggest policy inputs on Social,
Economic and Educational development of two districts.
5.
Administer the Backward Areas
Development Programme and the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Border Area Development
Program wherever applicable.
6.
Plan and administer other Special
Development Programme under the State and Central Government scheme as may be specified
for the purpose.
7.
Co-ordinate with other departments
for implementation of developmental schemes in the under developed areas.
8.
Powers to call for any information
from other departments with respect to affairs of the Under Developed Areas and each
Department shall supply such information.
9.
Supervision of implementation of
job reservation quota for Backward tribes inhabiting the under developed areas.
10. Carry out research and
expert studies with a view to bring these districts on par with the rest of the state.
11.
Any other function/assignments/duties allotted
to the department from time to time.
