- Yearly maintained fishery pond
yields better quality and quantity of fish.
- Do not to overstock fish seed
in a pond. Follow the Department guidelines of stocking density.
- Do not use poison, explosives
while fishing in rivers/streams. They cause pollution and ecological imbalance depleting
aquatic flora and fauna.
- Declare certain rivers/river
stretches of importance as fish sanctuaries/reserves to protect and preserve endangered
and endemic fish fauna.
- Observe fishing season. Avoid
fishing during breeding and spawning season.
- Use selective fishing gears.
- Utilize any water bodies like
paddy field, lakes etc. for fish culture in order to augment fish production and income.
- Do not introduce exotic Thai/African Magur, Big head carp in your pond or in any other water
bodies. They are a threat to indigenous fishes.
- Practice scientific method in
fish culture, the guidance and expertise for which can be obtained from the
departments technical personnel.

To co-operate and provide
healthy suggestion.
- To practice scientific fish
culture.
- To be aware of the need to
conserve and protect our endemic species in the riverine systems.
- To change the mind set towards
professionalism/full time pisciculturists and to cast off dependency on government.
- To realise that fisheries can
produce not only additional income but will also generate employment opportunities.
- To adopt professionalism in this
enterprise.
- To avoid casual
attitude/approach in fish farming.
Public redressal:
Receipt of application
seeking for financial assistance for fish culture activities from
individual/group/community is from 1st April up to 30th Sept. every
year.
Public are advised to contact
Department officials in their respective Districts/Sub-Divisions or head or Department for
redressal of any public grievances or needing any such assistance/information for healthy
co-existence and development.
