CREATION OF THE WASTELANDS DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
Government of Nagaland, having realized the problem of natural resource degradation  and the urgency of evolving and implementing integrated strategies for development of the vast area of wastelands in the State, created a full-fledged Department of Wastelands Development during 1993-94. The Department has since been implementing Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Integrated Wastelands Development Programme (IWDP) and other agro-forestry schemes under State sector.
