Department of WasteLands Development

AN OVERVIEW AND ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT

In Nagaland, rather than natural causes, improvident and unscientific land and water management practices have resulted into wastelands. The high prevalence of shifting cultivation and unabated deforestation have led to serious degradation of soil, water, flora and fauna thus leading to serious environmental and socio-economic problem. The gravity of this degradation, and its significance as a problem is perhaps the single most important natural resource management problem in the State today.
