Department of  Higher Education

Organizational set-up :

(a)The Department is headed by the Cabinet Minister of Higher Education. 

(b)The Administrative head of the Department is administered by the Commissioner & Secretary , assisted by one additional Secretary and one under Secretary. They have the support of  Ministerial staff headed by the Section Officer. 

(c)At the Directorate level, the Department is further headed by a Director, with supporting Officers as under,

(i) One Additional Director.

(ii)One Joint Director

(iii)One Deputy Director

(iv)One Nodal Officer

(v)One Senior Accounts Officer

(vi)One Special Officer

(vii)Three  OSDs

(viii)One Liaison Officer

and Ministerial support headed by a Registrar , two Superintendents, three Assistant Superintendents and 80 staff.

The Directorate  also has a Statistical section, headed by a Statistical Officer ,assisted by Inspector of Statistics along with  three staff, deputed from the Directorate of Economics and Statistics to collect statistical data.  

(d) At the College level, the Institute is headed by a Principal and assisted by a Vice-Principal. The following are some particulars in respect of the Colleges under the Department. 

Government Colleges:

                                       Initially with only 4 (four) Government Colleges, today, the Department of Higher Education have 14 (fourteen ) Government Colleges  ( the 14^th  College – Pfutsero College taken over wef from 1^st April,2009) and cater to the development and maintenance of these Colleges.
