SAFER INTERNET DAY 2025
To commemorate the event, a State-Level Awareness Workshop on “Safer Internet Day” was organised by NIC Nagaland in collaboration with the Department of IT&C, Nagaland on 11th February 2025 under the global theme “Together for a Better Internet”.
The event was hosted at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of IT&C, Nagaland and was graced by Shri. Mohammed Ali Shihab, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, IC&T. In his keynote address, Shri Ali Shihab emphasized the need for awareness regarding cyber safety. He pointed out that due to limited recreational facilities, many individuals in Nagaland resort to excessive mobile phone usage, leading to a high rate of internet consumption compared to other states. He urged the participants to spread awareness about online safety, responsible internet use, and preventive measures to protect users from cyber threats such as fraud and scams.
State Informatics Officer, NIC, Shri. I Lanusungkum Aier, in his introductory remarks cautioned internet users to differentiate between informative and harmful content, stressing the importance of verifying sources before sharing information. Shri. Aier also highlighted the growing prevalence of internet-based frauds and scams, urging responsible and judicial use of online platforms to ensure security.
Director, Information Technology & Communication, Er. Sabou Yashu, in his welcome address called upon Heads of Departments (HODs) to take the initiative seriously and act as ambassadors in raising awareness about online safety measures.
A PowerPoint presentation on the “Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project” was delivered by Director, NIC (IT), Swedeseno Natso, providing insights into cyber security challenges and best practices for users.
Events were also organized by NIC offices in the other districts of Nagaland.
