Visit of Shri Naveen Kumar, DDG & NIC Nagaland State Coordinator
The visit of Shri Naveen Kumar, DDG & NIC Nagaland State Coordinator, from March 11th to March 15th, 2024, marked a significant event for NIC Nagaland, highlighting the organization’s commitment to enhancing digital infrastructure and services across the state. His visit commenced with a series of engagements aimed at reviewing and bolstering the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) initiatives in Nagaland.

11th March 2024
- On his arrival , Shri. I. LanusungkumAier, Scientist-F & SIO, NIC Nagaland, received the coordinator and together proceeded to visit the NIC Dimapur District Unit and also to interact with the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur. The Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, expressing satisfaction with NIC’s services aslo discussed the demolition of the current DC complex and the temporary site allocated for NIC. Shri. Lipokmeren Imchen, DIO of Dimapur District Unit, updated the State Coordinator on ongoing activities and plans to shift to a temporary site post Lok Sabha Elections. They also mentioned overseeing the establishment of the NIC District Unit in Chumoukedima. The State Coordinator, along with other officials, inspected the temporary site and shared suggestions for room arrangements.
12th March 2024
- Engagement with NIC Officials: Shri Naveen Kumar engaged with NIC officials at the state centre, where the State Informatics Officer (SIO) of
NIC Nagaland provided an overview of the ongoing activities and programs. This session underscored the collaborative efforts between state and district officials in realizing the digital objectives of Nagaland.Shri Naveen Kumar also had a VC interaction with the DIOs and DIAs from the districts. Shri Lipok, Scientist E and DIO, Dimapur shared a presentation highlighting the various activities and issues of the districts.
- Inauguration of Newly created District Websites: A pivotal moment was the inauguration of the 5 ( five ) new district websites of Nagaland by the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, a step forward in making government services and information accessible online to the citizens. This initiativedemonstrates a significant leap towards digital governance, ensuring that the benefits of digitalization reach every corner of the state.
Following the inauguration, Discussions with the Chief Secretary highlighted critical areas such as strengthening NIC Nagaland, the need for improved internet connectivity, additional manpower, and the establishment of new video conferencing (VC) facilities. The Chief Secretary also voiced his concerns and contemplation of nominal fees for NIC products for smaller states like Nagalandwhich indicates a tailored approach to resource allocation and sustainability of digital services.
- Implementation of DBT Scheme: The inauguration of the State ITI DBT Scheme by Shri Rajesh Soundaranjan,IAS,Secretay,Employment Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, marks the first implementation of DBT using ServicePlus in the state. This initiative is a testament to Nagaland’s progress in leveraging digital platforms for transparent and efficient direct benefit transfer to beneficiaries.
- Inspection and Interaction: Shri Naveen Kumar’s inspection of the ongoing renovation of the NIC state HQ and the operational aspects of daily office work underscores the importance of a conducive working environment and up-to-date facilities for enhancing productivity and service delivery. Moreover, his interactions with district officials, including a visit to NIC Kohima, and a meeting with the District’s Deputy Commissioners, reflect a hands-on approach to understanding and addressing district-specific challenges and requirements.
